Cheerleading Squad Walk Lake Merrit to Help Prevent Cervical Cancer
Last month, members of O'Dowd's Sisters of Success (SOS) club and the Cheer Squad participated in the PINCC (Prevention International No Cervical Cancer) Walk for Women of Africa, held at Lake Merritt. The walk was the culmination of a fundraising appeal for medical supplies for underserved villages in Africa that are served by PINCC. The students sold frozen yogurt and, along with a donation from Brothers Making a Change (BMAC), raised $630.
In honor of their support, PINCC board member Monica Odero-Winegar, RN,NP, and the organization's assistant administrator Tenay Woodard '01 recently presented the students with the Team Spirit Award and treated them to a pizza party. Monica also provided the students a first-hand account of her experiences working on PINCC health projects.
